View-Master

A few months ago I was able to borrow some old photo negatives and film reels from a family friend so I could scan them into the computer. They came from a container that was sealed and never opened since 1964. Besides the multitude of negatives from the '40s and '50s, inside was also a View-Master box full of the discs and an old View-Master. The View-Master itself is probably from the '40s (and so are many of the discs) so that's how old I'd date the box to be.

It's hard to see but the box is made out of a gold foil-like paper. Very classy.

Every kid needs their instructive Bible stories in 3-D.
It's a bit out of focus because this is on the inside of the lid.

Compucolor

I'm guessing this is from 1972 but it could be from '84 as there were negatives from both of those years mixed together.

1971 Thrifty Slip

Here's a Thrifty Drug Store photo slip from 1971. Pretty psychedelic background:

Intermission

A quick interruption from the normal program made by White King Soap. Although the website says they're an Australian company, my bar says Los Angeles, Calif on it.

Maybe the White King guy can explain it to me.

Here you can see that the soap isn't very big:

Superprints Update

Here's an update to the Superprints post I did. I found another Superprints paper slip with a coupon inside.

Now I know exactly what year this is from:

Unknown 1984

This is an unknown paper slip from 1984.

Interesting use of lower and upper-case letters using Helvetica.

Superprints

Superprints by Drewry Photocolor. They've been around for a long time but I'm not sure if they're still in operation (I can't find an official website).
This paper slip is from the '80s.

Now you too can cherish a superprint of your favorite tractor, forever!

Unknown

This is an unknown paper slip from the early '80s. 1981 most likely.
The only clue as to the company is a little logo on the back that says Autopax but I couldn't find anything on it (and by that I mean the first page of a Google search didn't bring up anything relevant) so it shall just have to remain unknown.

Thrifty Twin Pix

I love the semi-Miami Vice font for the words "Twin Pix".

Richer, creamier, superior:

Unknown Slip

Here's an unknown paper slip. There's nothing special here except a somewhat cool red stripe design on the left.
I'm not sure what the Kodak Colorwatch System logo is supposed to be. I'm going to guess an old fashioned candle wax stamp.

Shifty Thrifty

The year is 1988.
You need your pictures set to music but don't know how.
Don't kill yourself just yet; Thrifty is here to help! For a mere $20, you too can pretend you're on MTV. MTV. Amazing. This is the future they promised.

Introduction

For the past year or so I've been going through a box of old negatives and scanning them into the computer.
Many of the negatives come in paper slips with graphics on them. They range in date from the '50s to today. Supply is limited so the blog will eventually run out of posts. None the less, this blog is dedicated to those designs.

This first design is by the now defunct Fotomat.
